KCYS Senior High School Scholarship Award

The Board of Directors for the Kent Covington Youth Soccer Association has approved $6,000 of scholarship funding to be awarded to junior or senior boys and girls that participated on their respective high school soccer team in the Kent School District. Amount of scholarship distribution will be determined when winning recipients are selected.

The award is in recognition of student-athletes who participated not only in interscholastic soccer; but also achieved well in academics and made significant contributions to other school, family and community activities.

The monetary award is intended to defray expenses for the student selected with plans for post-high school educational pursuits.

The following are some of the criteria that will be used to select a winner from each high school:

  • Must be a Senior or Junior and finished the most recent soccer season in good standing
  • Years participating in youth soccer
  • Extracurricular involvement/ Community Service  (i.e. volunteer work, assist coach in younger teams, etc.)
  • High school leadership
  • Academic achievement
  • High school soccer awards and recognition
  • Motivation for pursuing post-high school education

Applicants must submit the following to be considered for this award:

  1. A one page (maximum) essay describing how participation in soccer has impacted their life.
  2. A brief resume detailing their involvement in the selection criteria listed above.
  3. A letter of recommendation from a non-school official (employer, coach, referee, scheduler, etc).

All applications must be submitted to the respective school athletic administrator by the deadline.
